Welcome and well done on all your work here. Unfortunately, we don't have many active admins and even they are a bit quiet at the moment. Give User:Balzac a nudge if necessary. Speedoslover 21:22, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

"Strange characters"

In Sept. 2006, this site underwent a rename vandalism attack, where articles were renamed to names of other articles and/or to random nonsense titles multiple times. As part of the recovery effort, characters other than simple ASCII were messed up (UTF-8 codes interpreted as as ISO-8859-1). We fixed most of these at the time, but some eluded us. Just so you know... -- AnonMoos 19:25, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

true, that is an import reason to use things like © for © etc... --Roguebfl (talk) 19:53, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
I see, thanks. Obviously, if I see any other funnies I shall fix them. Ropeuser 22:09, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Thank you :)

MediaWiki:Licenses

Now that you are an admin; how about taking a look at what I wrote on MediaWiki talk:Licenses, especially as you do a lot of image uploading yourself.

Wiki links

when a wiki url has index.php you do not use index.php?title=User:Ropeuser but instead use index.php/User:Ropeuser the "title" style are only used for special page function. --Roguebfl (talk) 13:03, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Cat and kitten suit

"A catsuit without legs is sometimes called a kittensuit, although such a garment is indistinguishable from a leotard." Does a kittensuit still have a zip, as with a catsuit? If so, it is distinguishable from a leotard; if not, perhaps that is worth stating. --Interesdom 14:26, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Leotards may have zips if they have high necks: [1] I could say "indistinguishable from a leotard with a zip." Ropeuser 17:29, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Mental nondage / Honour bondage

When I checked for mental bondage before creating it, I missed seeing honour bondage. I think they may as well be merged, what do you think? --Interesdom 23:20, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Done; I leave you to decide whether we still need to acknowledge SMiki. Ropeuser 14:34, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Paraphilias

Hello, thanks for your welcome note (and your recommendation pointing me here too), it's great to be involved with this.

I had a thought, but being new here I wanted to get a second opinion. The paraphilia page is extensive, but doesn't point to any exhaustive list of specific philias; I was considering that it might be useful to create either a list on the paraphilia page - or perhaps a separate sub-category under the Fetish category. I'm more than happy to do this, just wondered what you (or others) thought about it. --Erleiden 00:59, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Question re: wikipedia content

Hi, and thanks for the welcome on my talk page.

I'm working on redlinks as a way of getting to know the place. I was going to do cosplay next, then discovered that Wikipedia has an excellent, well-referenced article on the subject. Since this is definitely a fetish-oriented topic, I'd like you opinion on how to handle it.

Do I:

  1. Cut and paste the Wikipedia content here? That would freeze the article in its current state.
  2. Create a stub article, and link to the Wikipedia content? That would keep the article fresh but also expose us to vandalism that occurs over there.
  3. Not create an article at all, but fix the redlinks to point directly to Wikipedia?
  4. Do my best to recreate the article here? Would rather not reinvent the wheel.

Anne Rice

Her parents named here Howard? If true it would be good to add a bit of Wikitext to warn the unwary... Howard!!? bt 13:19, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Surprising for an Irish Catholic family in that place and time, but I guess her own Web site settles the issue (assuming it's not been spoofed or vandalized itself...). Thnaks for the heads up... Howard!??? bt 20:40, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Copyright Templates

I replied on my talk page about you question. you will also want to at {{CC-BY-NC-SA-2.0}} to MediaWiki:Licenses as well as {{CC-BY-NC-ND-2.0}} which you had already added. —Roguebfl (talk) 20:58, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Carrara chastity belt

Thanx a lot for your grammatical corrections in my text about my personal experiences of being locked up for many weeks in the belt, as i am not a native speaker. I now only made some very small changes in the lay-out of the page, to have it look better. Hope to extend it further in the future, because the longer i have to wear the belt securely locked up myself, the better i will learn to know it under coercion (smile) - its possibilities and limits for doing things in daily life both.

Ben Hur

Thanks again a lot for your pains correcting my English!

Not entirely sure about that file's copyright status, since it's derivative "fan-art" of a presumably copyrighted character. On Wikimedia Commons, they allow material which has fallen out of copyright (see http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:PD_Cartoon_-_Superman ), and "generic" fan-art which does not directly derive from or closely imitate copyrighted visual material (see http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Fan_art ). However, this image might not be allowed... AnonMoos 19:21, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

Yes, you're right. I'll delete it.--Ropeuser 19:25, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
Photos of "cosplay" in superhero costumes would be allowed under U.S. law (since clothing as actually being worn by people is almost always considered to be merely "utilitarian"), but not sure about the UK... AnonMoos 21:00, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

<ref></ref>

I tried to use the reference tag <ref></ref>, and noticed it did not work here, I think this would be something that would be helpful, and it should be a standard MediaWiki feature. Rick7425 17:06, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

Last few days

Sorry I wasn't around the last few days, and you had to do all the clean-up... AnonMoos (talk) 15:33, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

That's OK!--Ropeuser (talk) 19:31, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

I knew they were still there, but my enthusiasm for completing the task was rapidly waning. Thanks for finishing it off... SFriendly.gif -- AnonMoos (talk) 06:55, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

Homosexual

"It is often claimed that 10% of people are homosexual. The origin of this figure is uncertain"

It originated from a shallow reading of the Kinsey Report, which was in turn based on unrepresentative sampling. See my comment at Talk:Kinsey Scale... AnonMoos (talk) 21:56, 19 July 2017 (CEST)

  • Thanks; I'll note that.--Ropeuser (talk) 21:49, 24 July 2017 (CEST)

Sandmutopia Guardian

The "Dungeon monitor" article reminded me that we don't have an article on the "Sandmutopia Guardian and Dungeon Journal" which was reportedly the first ever general-interest (i.e. not exclusively gay leather) BDSM journal or magazine when its publication started in 1988 (probably before the word "BDSM" was even coined)... AnonMoos (talk) 14:57, 12 June 2019 (CEST)

Done; see Sandmutopia Guardian.--Ropeuser (talk) 16:42, 16 June 2019 (CEST)
Thanks! (Sorry to put the burden on you, but you seem to be better at assembling a new starter article than I am...) AnonMoos (talk) 01:29, 17 June 2019 (CEST)

clothing item articles

If we have an article on strapless bras, then maybe we should have one on pasties. Supposedly, the highest technical achievement in burlesque was being able to get the tassel on one of the pasties swinging clockwise, while the tassel on the other one swung counter-clockwise... SFriendly.gif -- AnonMoos (talk) 18:55, 17 August 2019 (CEST)

P.S. Spelling of the singular is inconsistent between "pasty" and "pastie". AnonMoos (talk) 18:58, 17 August 2019 (CEST)
