I had a thought, but being new here I wanted to get a second opinion. The [[paraphilia]] page is extensive, but doesn't point to any exhaustive list of specific philias; I was considering that it might be useful to create either a list on the paraphilia page - or perhaps a separate sub-category under the Fetish category. I'm more than happy to do this, just wondered what you (or others) thought about it. --[[User:Erleiden|Erleiden]] 00:59, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, and thanks for the welcome on my talk page.
 +
 +
I'm working on redlinks as a way of getting to know the place. I was going to do cosplay next, then discovered that Wikipedia has an excellent, well-referenced article on the subject.  Since this is definitely a fetish-oriented topic, I'd like you opinion on how to handle it.
 +
 +
Do I:
 +
# Cut and paste the Wikipedia content here? That would freeze the article in its current state.
 +
# Create a stub article, and link to the Wikipedia content? That would keep the article fresh but also expose us to vandalism that occurs over there.
 +
# Not create an article at all, but fix the redlinks to point directly to Wikipedia?
 +
# Do my best to recreate the article here?  Would rather not reinvent the wheel.

[edit] "Strange characters"

In Sept. 2006, this site underwent a rename vandalism attack, where articles were renamed to names of other articles and/or to random nonsense titles multiple times. As part of the recovery effort, characters other than simple ASCII were messed up (UTF-8 codes interpreted as as ISO-8859-1). We fixed most of these at the time, but some eluded us. Just so you know... -- AnonMoos 19:25, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the information about LatexWiki. If you don't know the copyright status of a photo, please don't upload it.--Ropeuser (talk) 13:03, 27 June 2025 (EDT)

Based on the technical difficulties that LatexWiki currently has, it is not trivial to access texts and images. That is why I have taken some articles and images out of LatexWiki and put them into Wipipedia, because it is completely open whether LatexWiki will recover from its current crisis and if the case were to occur that LatexWiki is completely gone, then it would be too late.
I understand your concerns about the licence information, but this is a matter for you to decide, as I only feel responsible for technical matters.
I have always included the link when uploading images from LatexWiki so that you can access LatexWiki information directly. I can do no more in this matter.--Issue fixer (talk) 16:41, 28 June 2025 (EDT)

This is Wipipedia, not Archive.org; it is not our function to store pictures from other sites. Please put them on Archive.org if you can. There is of course an article about Latexwiki here; you could add appropriate links to that article. And whatever you feel, by editing here you are obliged to follow the rules of this site.--Ropeuser (talk) 13:51, 3 July 2025 (EDT)

There is something called faire use[wp]:
"Fair use is a doctrine in United States law that permits limited use of copyrighted material without having to first acquire permission from the copyright holder. Fair use is one of the limitations to copyright intended to balance the interests of copyright holders with the public interest in the wider distribution and use of creative works by allowing as a defense to copyright infringement claims certain limited uses that might otherwise be considered infringement."
This could apply to the images under discussion. --Issue fixer (talk) 05:52, 4 July 2025 (EDT)
Just to note, images like File:Aljones.jpg also have no notice about the copyright status in Wipipedia.--Issue fixer (talk) 05:28, 9 July 2025 (EDT)

This site is based in Britain and is therefore subject to British copyright law, unlike Wikipedia which is based in the USA. I have not checked every image on here, many of which were posted before I started editing here, to confirm their copyright status.-Ropeuser (talk) 14:58, 16 July 2025 (EDT)

"British copyright law"
Thank you for clarifying that. But you should also do this on the Privacy policy page, because otherwise nobody will know. --Issue fixer (talk) 13:07, 19 July 2025 (EDT)

[edit] uploaded pictures

You have uploaded five pictures that are not yet in use. Of these, you have marked two as PD, one is from Latexwiki and two are probably in copyright, namely File:Anonymous - A Man with a Maid.jpg and File:A_Man_with_a_Maid_-_One_of_the_Most_Famous_Underground_Novels_of_Victorian_England.jpg. Unless you have evidence to the contrary, I shall have to delete them. I haven't checked the ones you have added to an article.--Ropeuser (talk) 13:03, 27 June 2025 (EDT)

File:Anonymous - A Man with a Maid.jpg and File:A_Man_with_a_Maid_-_One_of_the_Most_Famous_Underground_Novels_of_Victorian_England.jpg I uploaded by mistake. You may delete them. The intention was to upload them in another wiki.
The two three images marked as PD I did myself. SVG versions of them are available on WikiMANNia.
The LatexWiki White Room (Marquis Films) article originally used this image, but I decided to use that one instead.--Issue fixer (talk) 13:19, 27 June 2025 (EDT)
The main intention was to spice up the Marquis (magazine) article and add the Marquis (films) article.--Issue fixer (talk) 13:39, 27 June 2025 (EDT)

[edit] Duplicate article entries

I have just realised that I have overlooked the entries Fetish Academy, and White Room when creating the three articles The Bizarre Laboratory (Marquis Films), Fetish Academy (Marquis Films), and White Room (Marquis Films).--Issue fixer (talk) 13:39, 27 June 2025 (EDT)

Please convert them to redirects, adding material to the original articles if appropriate.--Ropeuser (talk) 13:52, 3 July 2025 (EDT)
