Control freak is typically a derogatory term, used to indicate someone who is overbearing, arrogant and likes to control other people.
It is mostly used by vanilla people, but it is also used within the BDSM lifestyle as a way to differentiate from, or sometimes explain the behaviour of, a dominant. A control freak is likely to be a particularly rough and unpleasant dominant, who may appeal to a doormat.
