Drawers are a type of lingerie covering the hips, crotch and waist. They were commonly worn by 19th-century women as one of many layers of undergarments. While still produced, they are usually considered old-fashioned unless they are shapewear. As a rule, the word "drawers" is used for garments with short legs, whereas panties have no legs.
