The Ownership Subculture refers to the set of ideas, attitudes, events, and writings of people who are seeking or pursuing ownership relationships: that is, 24/7 D/s or Master/slave relationships, where ultimate authority over the submissive or slave is always in the hands of the owner.
Example aspects of the subculture:
- A master and slave in a relationship
- The rituals, habits and ideas surrounding a collar
- "The Story of O" by Pauline Reage
- The MASTER/slave Conference in Washington, DC
- The theory of Internal Enslavement
Through the prevalence of Master/slave dynamics, the Ownership subculture is strongly related to the Leather subculture (especially in North America), and has some overlap with the BDSM Play Scene and to a much lesser extent, the Fetish Scene.
