It would be interesting to have a new page (if anyone would like to write it) giving personal opinions on why people find the Gore books and lifestyle so attractive. Many of us who are not John Norman fans find it difficult to grasp why these books have such a loyal following and this could enhance our understanding. The page might be called Gore (opinions). Because it is opinion and not fact I feel it should be kept on a separate page from the main article. I think it should also be restricted to comments from people who embrace the lifestyle / philosophy. Balzac 08:30, 7 Apr 2005 (BST)

Good idea but wouldn't it be better to keep consistent with other pages?  After your previous suggestion, I created a link to Personal Experiences (see Ownership).  This would imply a page of Gor - Personal Exeriences.  Calling it Personal Experiences is likely to encourage the kind of writing you want, too, as we all have opinions!

:In particular, the word "sadism" is somewhat problematic.  No one would deny that in the Gor books masters are sometimes brutal towards slaves, but Norman is actually opposed to sadism according to his own personal definition of "sadism" (i.e. inflicting pain solely for the personal gratification of the master, rather than for purposes of legitimate slave training and discipline), and the goal of a good Gorean master is to get things running along smoothly so that only occasional punishment is necessary to maintain effective domination.  I'll be changing that passage, but I'm not sure exactly in what way...
