I have often been [[gag]]ged as part of a [[BDSM]] experience.  Gagging is something with profound implications.  The [[captor]] is [[humiliation|humiliating]] me by implying that I have nothing to say, or at least that nothing I have to say is important.

There are three aspects to this.  It stops me protesting at whatever she is doing to me.  Equally, I cannot admit defeat.  If I want to say that I have had enough, that I surrender, I can't.  (Of course, in an emergency I would have a [[safe word|release signal]], but I try to forget that.)  I have to accept the full range of [[discipline]] or [[physical punishment]] that she chooses to mete out.  Finally, gagging converts me to being an [[adult baby]].  I can't talk coherently.  I can, like a baby, make a noise, but that will only annoy my captor.
