In modern English, cunt is a term for either or both of the vulva and vagine. It is an old word in English, and like many such words, has considerable emotional power. It is considered vulgar by many, and was formerly commonly considered obscene. Used in some contexts, it is still. It is often considered by many groups to be the one of most offensive words in English language.
The word is, like many perjorative words, being reclaimed from its former taboo status. The homosexual community has reclaimed the word queer in this sense over the last few decades. It may be that cunt will be seen in a quite different way in future.
