Tawse

A tawse is a Scottish implement originally used in schools for corporal punishment. It is popular in BDSM play.
It consists of a thick, relatively hard piece of leather, that splits into two, three or sometimes more parallel tails.
From "Taw", to beat. Also spelt tawis, taws and tawes.
