Well, yes, even into the early twentieth century, women didn't wear trousers. Or are you specifically referring to the sort of tight trousers that for example naval officers wore?--Stani (talk) 22:58, 12 April 2014 (BST)

During much of the 17th and 18th centuries, basic male trousers or breeches commonly resembled capri pants (though not always as tight on top). If you see contemporary illustrations of the folkloric motif of a husband and wife fighting over the breeches, the resemblance is usually clear... AnonMoos (talk) 05:44, 14 February 2015 (UTC)
