: I don't claim for a second that all or even most male dancers are gay. However, it is a fact that '''it is said that many male dancers are gay''', and I can give lots of references; it is also a fact that many eminent dancers, such as Nijinsky, Frederick Ashton, Robert Helpmann and Rudolf Nureyev, were gay. Still, if you can suggest a better wording I'm happy to use it.--[[User:Speedoslover|Speedoslover]] 06:34, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

:: But it also true that it is said that many male dancers are heterosexual and it is also said that many female dancers are gay, so how about "It is said that many dancers are gay or heterosexual." But I'm sure you can see that - other than being more accurate - this adds nothing to the topic as a whole. If you really feel that sexual orientation is important to the topic, how about "Some prominant male ballet dancers are gay but many are not." --[[User:Interesdom|Interesdom]] 15:50, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Gay?

"It is said that many male dancers are gay." Could this be toned down or removed? I know three ballet groups and none of the men in it are gay. In fact, I'd say that a good half of the reason for them taking up ballet was to be able to get to the lovely girls! --Interesdom 21:03, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

I don't claim for a second that all or even most male dancers are gay. However, it is a fact that it is said that many male dancers are gay, and I can give lots of references; it is also a fact that many eminent dancers, such as Nijinsky, Frederick Ashton, Robert Helpmann and Rudolf Nureyev, were gay. Still, if you can suggest a better wording I'm happy to use it.--Speedoslover 06:34, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
But it also true that it is said that many male dancers are heterosexual and it is also said that many female dancers are gay, so how about "It is said that many dancers are gay or heterosexual." But I'm sure you can see that - other than being more accurate - this adds nothing to the topic as a whole. If you really feel that sexual orientation is important to the topic, how about "Some prominant male ballet dancers are gay but many are not." --Interesdom 15:50, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
