The prostate is a gland in the male genital region. It makes and stores seminal fluid, a milky fluid that nourishes sperm. This fluid is released to form part of semen.
It surrounds the urethra just below the urinary bladder. It is located in front of the rectum and part of it can be felt via the anus.
Some men enjoy having their prostate gland stimulated, this is posited as one of the reasons why anal sex is pleasurable.
