Cissexism is the attitude of mind that retaining the sexual identity assigned at birth is superior to changing or attempting to change that identity (transsexualism). It may be regarded as a prejudice similar to sexism or racism.

A strong form of cissexism is sometimes called transphobia. In this case, someone may suffer discomfort, disgust, fear or anger when meeting or thinking about transsexuals.
